The last email my dad ever sent me was a link to an a cappella song. He'd send these from time to time, it was just one of those things. My whole life he loved listening to and even singing a cappella music. I decided to make this choir piece into a version he would have liked, one person singing five parts. It’s not the typical a cappella style, but I think he would have liked this just the same. He passed away in April 2021.
The text is by Daniel Ladinsky who was “channeling” the persian poet Hafez (minor edits by me). Thanks to my brother Alexi for helping me out this together, without him it simply wouldn’t have happened.
